ABOUT ME

I don't want to write an About Me page, but Google AdSense just rejected my site for having “low-value content." I talked with my best friend, ChatGPT, who told me that an About Me page might help. Google wants to know that I'm not AI, a bot, or a weirdo.

Psst... I'm a weirdo.

Hey Google! You want to know something about me? Fine.

I'm basically Lloyd Dobbler, 36 years later.

“I don’t want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don’t want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don’t want to do that.”

Lloyd Dobbler, Say Anything…

Let's be serious, I can't be Lloyd Dobbler. I have a wife, three young daughters, and a dog. If it were only me, I'd probably either be living under a bridge or dead.

As a guy who's survived cancer, the death of my son, alcoholism, the death of my father, the death of my mother, and various mental illnesses, I don't see the value of a sales career anymore. I, however, could be an incredible salesman if I put my mind to it. As it stands, I only want to sit at home in my underwear and watch my girls grow up.

“The noblest art is that of making others happy. But putting on a show isn’t the only way to do that. I think I’ll watch my girls grow up.”

P.T. Barnum, The Greatest Showman

Do you get that? I don't want to do anything, but I want to say everything in the comfort of my home. I want to be near my daughters, but I don't want to interfere with my daughters' lives.

I've been called a helicopter dad by an elderly woman who worked the front desk while my oldest daughter attended daycare at the Stoughton Branch of the Old Colony YMCA, and she was right.

I haven't told you anything about me yet, have I?

I grew up in East Boston, Massachusetts, at the top of Orient Heights. I was the fourth generation of my family to grow up on its streets. I didn't know I had it tougher than the kids growing up in the suburbs.

I live in Stoughton, Massachusetts.

There's much more to share, but I think I'll do that through blog posts.

What's the point of jonathanbowen.boston?

I plan to create an affiliate marketing site. I won't discuss politics or anything too risqué because advertisers don't want that. The companies that advertise want to sell products and services.

I'm here to help them do that.

So, no, I'm not an 18-year-old Lloyd Dobbler. I'm a 52-year-old Lloyd Dobbler, and yes, I know that Lloyd Dobbler would be about 54-years-old today, but stay with me here. I'm a Lloyd Dobbler who's learned to understand that we're all part of the big machine.
